Twisted Vibrations Celebrates One Year Strong
As a native New Yorker, it’s almost become an inside joke that dispensaries have been popping up all over the city — replacing our beloved bodegas and corner stores with smoke shops and budtenders. While that might be true, it’s rare to find a spot that actually stands the test of time, one that not only stays in the neighborhood but becomes part of it. Twisted Vibrations is changing that narrative recently celebrating their one-year anniversary.
Located in the heart of Williamsburg, just steps from the Marcy Ave J train stop, Twisted Vibrations isn’t your everyday dispensary. Family-owned and operated by a proud Haitian and Jamaican family, the shop is rooted in warmth, culture, and community from the ground up. That energy makes perfect sense when you learn the backstory of the owners — they literally helped build New York. No, seriously: before launching Twisted Vibrations, they worked as carpenters and union members, helping construct the very city their business now calls home. Known for their hard work and community-driven spirit, it’s no surprise that same energy lives on through Twisted Vibrations — a space where wellness, quality, and connection come together in an undeniably real and grounded way.
As the cannabis industry continues to grow, businesses like Twisted Vibrations represent a shift toward conscious commerce, one where culture, education, and access meet. Partners like Dutchie, a platform helping dispensaries streamline operations and compliance, and platforms like Joint Commerce are shifting how cannabis businesses show up in our neighborhoods. Instead of vague marketing or scattershot ads, Joint Commerce offers a full-stack digital solution built specifically for cannabis. For neighborhood dispensaries and emerging brands alike, that means having access to tech and strategy that used to be reserved for big-budget players — now tailored to the unique regulatory and cultural terrain of this industry. Their work underscores the idea that cannabis isn’t just a product anymore, but a community enterprise that deserves smart, equity-minded infrastructure behind it.
Institutions are starting to take notice too. Alabama State University recently became the first HBCU to offer a Cannabis Certification Program, opening the door for students and communities to better understand the business, science, and policy shaping the industry’s future. Their online Cannabis Healthcare & Medicine Certificate program dives deep into the science, culture, law, dosing, and therapeutic uses of cannabis. For professionals in healthcare, retail, and wellness, this kind of credential equips them with the knowledge to guide clients and communities responsibly. From strain selection to route of administration, and even regulations and ethics, the curriculum delivers thoughtful training on an industry still writing its own rules. These programs help ensure that as the world’s view of cannabis evolves, education and equity evolve with it.
I had the pleasure of being invited to the store to celebrate their one-year anniversary! The entire week leading up to the milestone was filled with events — just the day before, they hosted a Williamsburg Cleanup, which they do every Thursday. On the day of the anniversary, they kicked things off bright and early with a bridge run before jumping straight into an all-day celebration at the store. The event delivered on everything it promised: food, drinks, games, music, art, and, most importantly, Community.
The celebration was jam-packed with energy — brands featured in the shop set up as vendors, DJs from all over the city kept the music flowing, and there were fun games, photo ops, and classic BBQ food straight off the grill courtesy of the family. Of course, Twisted Vibrations’ budtenders were in their element, educating, and connecting with guests. This wasn’t my first time visiting Twisted; I’ve been a supporter of the brand since being introduced to them this summer. But this event really helped me see the value Twisted Vibrations brings to the Williamsburg community. It’s something incredibly special to only be in business for one year and already have such a strong, genuine response from the neighborhood.
The overwhelming feeling throughout the day was one of true community. When I spoke with other attendees, many echoed my thoughts, praising Twisted for their knowledge and authenticity. People appreciate that Twisted is a company that truly understands its craft, values its customers, and pours back into the community just as much as the community pours into them — if not more.

The community building and care they have shown in their one year of operation not only far out exceeds many other dispensaries in the city but is also the key to their success. This celebration could have been kept in house, with a simple AI-generated thank you to their social media feeds with maybe a special discount for the week. But that’s just not the Twisted Vibrations way. They planned the week and the day with intention to further give back to the community they call home. In my opinion, other dispensaries and business’s in general need to take notes on what Twisted is cooking up in Brooklyn. I would call it a strategy but I truly believe that this just what Twisted Vibrations is: a business made by the people for the people.
If you’re ever in the Williamsburg area and have a little time to spare, stop by Twisted Vibrations at 301 Broadway — they’d be more than happy to have you. Whether you’re looking for some quality THC or CBD products or just want to learn more about cannabis, they’ll meet you with the same warmth and community spirit that’s made them a neighborhood favorite. Judging by the love they’ve built in just one year, it’s safe to say Twisted Vibrations is here to stay.
